The Aam Aadmi Party has moved early on its 2026 Assam Assembly strategy, naming Mahavir Baske as its candidate from the Tingkhong constituency after a key organisational meeting in Moran’s Raidang area of Dibrugarh district.
The decision was taken unanimously at a gathering attended by AAP National Joint Secretary Bhaven Choudhury, State Publicity Secretary Jayanta Saikia, Dibrugarh district president Prabhut Gogoi, labour leader Biren Mirdha, and other district-level office-bearers.
Party leaders said the meeting focused on strengthening the organisation in Tingkhong and expanding grassroots outreach ahead of the polls. The leadership underlined that groundwork at the booth and village levels would be central to its campaign.
Addressing the media, Choudhury criticised the opposition alliance and questioned the Congress’s reliability as a partner, claiming past experience showed it had failed to honour alliances and lacked sincerity towards allies.
AAP said it would contest the 2026 elections with full force, positioning itself as a credible alternative in Assam’s political landscape.
