Assam Cabinet Minister and Guardian Minister of Dhubri district, Ashok Singhal, on Sunday launched the statewide Pulse Polio Programme from Dhubri Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on the occasion of National Immunization Day.
Speaking at the launch, Singhal said nearly 52,000 health workers have been deployed across 24,000 vaccination centres to administer polio drops to children throughout the state.
He said that around 95 per cent of mothers and children in Assam have already been brought under the immunization programme through the dedicated efforts of frontline healthcare workers. The minister also informed that over 99 per cent of the state's immunization management system has been digitized, making vaccine delivery more efficient and transparent.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to child healthcare, Singhal said Assam remains focused on ensuring that every child is protected against vaccine-preventable diseases. He credited the state's progress in the health sector to the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said the government would continue to strengthen healthcare services across Assam.
The programme was attended by Joint Director of the Dhubri Health Department Dr. Jyoti Kumar Das, Principal of Dhubri Medical College and Hospital Dr. Ankumani Saikia, and other senior health officials.
