Assam: Allegations of corruption surface against Jorhat Police over release of accused

Jorhat Police have come under scrutiny, raising concerns over alleged corruption within the Assam Police force. Reports suggest that Jorhat Sadar Police have been allegedly demanding money from accused individuals in exchange for their release.

According to sources, the police reportedly demanded Rs 8,000 to release eight individuals, sparking outrage and calls for accountability.

Meanwhile, the constable seen in the video as well as the Incharge officer (IO) have been suspended with immediate effect, as per a post shared by Jorhat Police. Further disciplinary proceeding has been initiated.
