Barpeta's Sarukhkhetri constituency is embroiled in controversy as allegations of embezzlement and financial irregularities in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) job card scheme have come to light. It is alleged that funds earmarked for the scheme's beneficiaries have been misappropriated, leaving the intended recipients without their rightful dues.
Residents of Sarukhkhetri have voiced their concerns over what they describe as a widespread scam involving the misallocation of PMAY funds. The scheme, aimed at providing housing for the underprivileged, has been mired in controversy with accusations that the money meant for job card holders has not reached its intended destination.
One of the gravest allegations points to a diversion of funds through unauthorized bank accounts, depriving the genuine PMAY scheme beneficiaries of their entitled financial assistance. Reports indicate that lakhs of rupees have been siphoned off in No. 41 South West Betbari village panchayat, which falls under the Sarukhkhetri constituency in Barpeta district.
The PANCHAYAT GRS (Gram Rozgar Sevak) Soleiman Ali has been accused of orchestrating this alleged scam by manipulating job card transactions.
