Tension was reported in Silchar’s Premtala area on Sunday, September 20 after members of the Bajrang Dal alleged that a sex racket was being operated from a room behind a spa parlour, prompting police intervention and the detention of a woman and a spa employee.
Members of the Bajrang Dal reached the Ray Unisex Spa Parlour in Premtala following allegations that such activities had allegedly been taking place at the premises for some time. They claimed that a man and a woman were found together in an objectionable situation inside the parlour.
According to the group, the man fled from the spot when the situation came to light, while the woman was detained by its members.
The incident subsequently led to tension inside the premises, with allegations of vandalism being reported during the confrontation.
During questioning, a parlour employee reportedly said that a room had been rented for Rs 1,000. The employee, however, claimed that they were unaware of what the man and woman intended to do inside the room.
Bajrang Dal members also claimed that some objectionable items were recovered from the premises.
Police were informed following the incident, after which personnel from Silchar Sadar Police Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Police detained the woman and the parlour employee and took them to the police station for questioning.
Members of the Bajrang Dal alleged that activities of this nature should not be allowed in a densely populated area such as Premtala. They also questioned how the alleged activities could have continued for a prolonged period despite action by authorities against alleged irregularities involving spa parlours at various locations in the Barak Valley.
The allegations of a sex racket, however, have not been established. The nature of the activities taking place at the premises, along with the identities and roles of those involved, will be determined through the police investigation.
Police are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and verify the allegations made by the Bajrang Dal members.
The incident led to heightened tension in the Premtala area on Sunday, before police intervened and took the detained individuals to the police station.
