Assam Minister Ranjit Kumar Das visited the families of two victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on behalf of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the people of Assam.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “CM Himanta Biswa Sarma asked us to go and meet the families of those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. I met them on his behalf and handed over Rs 5 lakh as compensation to each family,” said the minister.
He added, “I have assured the families that the people of Assam and the state government will always stand with them in this time of grief.”
In response, wife of Shubham Dwivedi, who lost his life in the terror attack, Aishanya Dwivedi said, "They came here to pay tribute to Shubham and extend emotional support to our family. They spoke with us very nicely and also extended help to our family. I thank him for that."
The state cabinet had earlier announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the 26 people killed in the April 22 terror attack.
CM Sarma, in a post on X, informed that ministers had visited the residence of N Ramachandran in Kerala and J S Chandramouli in Visakhapatnam to personally hand over the assistance.
