The All BTC Bengali Youth Students Federation on December 23, staged a protest in Kokrajhar against the killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh, alleging atrocities against members of the Hindu minority in the neighbouring country.
The demonstration was held at Shanti Nagar in Kokrajhar town, where members of the federation gathered to protest what they described as increasing violence, persecution and human rights violations targeting Hindus in Bangladesh. As part of the protest, demonstrators displayed and symbolically burned an effigy of Mohammad Yunus, advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, to express their condemnation.
According to the federation, the protest was triggered by the recent killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh, an incident that has sparked outrage. Protesters raised slogans demanding justice for the victim and called for immediate action to ensure the safety and security of minority communities in Bangladesh.
The organisers said the demonstration was intended to draw attention to the issue and press for accountability, while calling on the international community to closely monitor the situation of minorities in Bangladesh.
