Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah has launched a sharp attack on the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), claiming the party has been rendered powerless after its dismal performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Borah compared AIUDF to a ceiling fan, saying that while voters in Bongaigaon, Mankachar, Dhubri, and Barpeta once "switched it on," they have now decisively "switched it off," leading to a loss of political current.
Speaking at a campaign rally for the upcoming panchayat polls in Tapattari, Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon district, Bora highlighted that the AIUDF suffered a crushing setback, trailing by a margin of 10 lakh votes.
He further claimed that AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has effectively stepped back from active politics and is now dedicating his time to religious activities.
Borah’s remarks come as part of Congress’s renewed offensive aimed at reclaiming ground in constituencies where AIUDF once held sway.
