Assam: Biker killed in NH-15 accident, MLA wife's car involved

A fatal accident on National Highway 15 near Nagashankar in Chatia claimed the life of a biker, identified as Nripen Daimary, on Thursday. Daimary, a resident of Chengamari in Chatia, succumbed to injuries after his bike, bearing registration number AS 12D 6200, collided with a Mahindra Scrappy vehicle (AS 01 EB 1919).

The Scrappy vehicle is reportedly registered in the name of Smritirekha Hazarika, wife of Chatia MLA Padma Hazarika. Witnesses stated that the vehicle’s driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are making efforts to locate the absconding driver. The tragic accident has sparked discussions in the area, particularly regarding the involvement of the MLA's family vehicle.
