Assam: BJP, BPF hold joint meeting in Kokrajhar, discuss strengthening alliance in BTC

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) held a joint meeting in Kokrajhar on September 2 to strengthen coordination between the two alliance partners in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

BTR Chief and BPF president Hagrama Mohilary attended the district-level meeting and stressed the need for both parties to work in close coordination for the development and administration of the BTC area.

Mohilary assured that BJP representatives would be included in various boards and advisory committees under the BTC, including Nikay Boards, Village Council Development Committees (VCDC), TCLCC, CSB and the Land Advisory Committee.

The move is aimed at strengthening coordination and maintaining cordial relations between the BPF-led BTC administration and the BJP.

The BPF is also expected to hold similar joint meetings with BJP leaders in Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri and Tamulpur districts in the coming days to further consolidate cooperation between the two parties across the BTR.

The meeting was attended by BJP Kokrajhar district in-charge Shankar Prasad Roy, BJP district president Gosai Basumatary, BPF general secretary and MLA Maneswar Brahma, BPF MLAs Rupam Chandra Roy, Sobharam Basumatary and Rabiram Narzary, MLA Sewli Mohilary, besides several senior leaders and representatives of both parties.

The BJP and BPF are alliance partners, and their coordination has assumed renewed political significance following recent electoral developments in Assam and the BTC.
