Assam BJP president Bhabesh Kalita today held a review meet in view of the scheduled visit to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's rally in Barpeta Road on February 29.
A review meeting held today at Barpeta Road, chaired by Assam State BJP President Bhavesh Kalita, brought together party leaders and workers from 10 assembly constituencies under Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency.
Notable figures present at the meeting included Cabinet Minister Ranjit Dass, Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, MLA Phani Talukdar, MLA Suman Haripriya, MLA Naba Doley, and other state-level leaders. "On February 29, the country's defence minsiter Rajnath Singh will address a rally at Barpeta town at a stadium there. We are dividing the 14 constituencies of our state into five clusters, and as per this categorisation, the defence minister will be visiting our state. We held a meeting today regarding this," said Kalita.
He further said that no more MLAs from other parties will be joining the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Kalita disclosed, "Before the Lok Sabha elections, no MLA from any other party will join the BJP; they will only give support to NDA. However, Nalbari district Congress president Ratul Patowary and Bongaigaon district Congress president Shankar Prasad Roy will join the BJP on February 22nd."
Bhavesh Kalita futher took a swipe at state Congress president Bhupen Bora, stating, "Bhupen Bora is left with no party at the moment.
