Days after BJP MLA from Guwahati East constituency Siddharth Bhattacharya spoke about the roles of the veteran BJP leaders of the state, cabinet minister Pijush Hazarkia, said that even he is an old member of the BJP as he has severed more than 8 years with the saffron party.
Commenting on the alleged rift among the veteran BJP leaders particularly Siddhartha Bhattacharya with the present leaders, Hazarkia said, "I have already completed 9 years in BJP then how can I be new...on August 28, Himanta Biswa Sarma will also enter in the 9th year of his association with BJP...it will be a decade in next one year," he added.
Hazaika also accepted that Siddhartha Bhattacharya was the person who introduced Himanata Biswa Sarma and also him to the BJP and if anything good has been done he should be proud and if anything has gone wrong Bhattacharya should take the onus.
Earlier Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika took a jibe at veteran BJP leader Rajen Gohain's remark on chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the delimitation process.

Addressing a presser, Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika, said," Firstly what Rajen Gohain's allegation of state government or Himanata Biswa Sarma's interference in delimitation process in completely wrong and he will be in a better position to let people know."
Further, the minister asserted that it is only the Election Commission of India which takes care of any delimitation process without any interference from the Central or state government, not even any individual.
"According to Rajen Gohain if delimitation has been done by Himanta Biswa Sarma then Himanta Biswa Sarma should be regarded as 'Mahanayak' because everyone is saying the seats of indigenous people have gone up to 104 after the delimitation."
