Assam BJP MLA Suruj Dehingia hits back at Akhil Gogoi over flood relief allegations

Mahamara BJP MLA Suruj Dehingia has strongly criticised Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi over his allegations of irregularities and corruption in the distribution of the Assam government's flood relief kits.

Responding to Gogoi's claims, Dehingia dismissed the allegations and took a swipe at the opposition legislator, calling him a "reel hero" while describing BJP workers as the "real heroes" who have been actively serving flood-affected people on the ground.

"Akhil Gogoi only talks and creates controversies. This is his habit and profession, and he enjoys doing it. Those who work only to keep themselves visible on social media are reel heroes. They are busy with reels, while we are busy with real work. The people of Assam understand the difference," Dehingia said.

His remarks came after Akhil Gogoi alleged that there were widespread discrepancies and corruption in the distribution of Chief Minister's relief kits to flood-affected families across the state.

The exchange has intensified the political war of words between the BJP and the opposition over the handling of flood relief operations in Assam.
