The second day of the 65th Annual Session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha unfolded with a rich blend of literary discourse and cultural activities at the Thengphakhri Fwthar in Bijni, Chirang district, reaffirming the Sabha’s commitment to the promotion of Bodo language and literature.
The day’s proceedings commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha flag by its President, Dr Surath Narzary. Vice President Sitaram Basumatary paid homage to martyrs by offering floral tributes, marking a solemn beginning to the day’s events. Addressing the gathering after the flag hoisting, Dr Narzary urged writers, scholars, and the younger generation to work collectively to preserve, protect, and strengthen the Bodo language and its literary heritage.
A major highlight of the day was the release of nearly 100 books authored by Bodo writers, showcasing the expanding scope, creativity, and intellectual depth of contemporary Bodo literature. The publication of such a large number of works was widely seen as a testament to the growing vibrancy of the literary movement within the community.
The main programme also witnessed the conferment of several prestigious literary and cultural honours. Eminent contributors were felicitated with awards including the Rangsar Literary Award 2025, Samesari Brahma Literary Award 2025, Praban Bargoyary Award 2025, Sanjarang Lakheswar Brahma Cultural Award 2025, Habraghat Award 2025, among others, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to literature and culture.
