The body of a newborn girl was recovered from a village in Merapani in Assam’s Golaghat district on March 6, triggering shock among residents.
According to local sources, the infant’s body was found wrapped in a polythene bag behind the backyard of a house at Bhakat Gaon in Merapani early in the morning. A resident of the village reportedly noticed the polythene-wrapped body and alerted others.
The discovery of the newborn girl’s body created a sensation in the area, with villagers gathering at the spot soon after the incident came to light.
Police from Merapani Police Station were informed immediately and rushed to the location. The body was later recovered by the police, who have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
