Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) chief Hagrama Mohilary on Saturday launched a sharp attack on United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) president and BTC chief Pramod Boro, accusing him of inciting unrest through divisive agitations.
Speaking to the media during the Aashirbad Yatra at Subaijhar in Bijni, Chirang district, Mohilary recalled that when Boro and the BPF were earlier in power in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), they spearheaded campaigns such as “divide Assam 50/50” and “no Bodoland, no rest.” He warned that similar turmoil could resurface if Boro returns to power.
“Pramod Boro only brings unrest. When BPF was in power under him, he led divisive movements. If they return, such agitations will be revived again,” Mohilary said.
Responding to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s recent criticism of the BPF, the former BTC chief maintained that political attacks are common during elections but stressed the need for restraint in language.
“In elections, one party criticizes another — that is natural. But it is important that such criticism does not cross the line into objectionable remarks,” Mohilary added.
