Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro, emphasized the importance of cultural preservation and mutual respect among communities as the foundation for lasting peace and a better future in the Bodoland region.
Speaking at a cultural recognition event, Boro remarked that the region, long marred by ethnic strife, is now experiencing a phase of peace, allowing its people to shift focus from survival to progress. “Over the last four to five decades, every community was trying to protect its identity and culture. But now, as peace prevails, people finally have the opportunity to think about their future,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of mutual respect in sustaining peace, Boro stated, “To maintain harmony and build a prosperous future, we must respect each other’s heritage.”
As part of this cultural celebration, BTC conferred awards to honor traditional folk culture, dance, and song, acknowledging the rich and diverse indigenous heritage of the region. The initiative aims to recognize and uplift the contributions of various ethnic groups in preserving Bodoland’s cultural mosaic.
Boro also announced the publication of a unique linguistic book featuring 1,001 sentences compiled from 18 different communities, groups, and languages spoken across Bodoland. The book stands as a symbolic gesture of unity in diversity and a testament to the multilingual richness of the region.
“This initiative is our way of giving respect and recognition to the communities that have shaped the identity of Bodoland,” he added.
