For the first time in its history, the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government held its Executive Council meeting at the Bodoland Guest House in Kailash Colony, New Delhi, on May 1.
Following the meeting, BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro addressed a press briefing and highlighted several key decisions aimed at inclusive development, cultural promotion, and infrastructural growth across the region.
One of the major announcements included BTC’s decision to send a letter of gratitude to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Chief Ministers of Assam and Delhi and the Mayor of Delhi MCD for facilitating the installation of a statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and the naming of a road in his honor. The BTC will also provide Rs. 25,000 per month to the Delhi MCD for the upkeep of the statue site.
“Guided by Bodofa’s philosophy of ‘Live and Let Live’, we are committed to working in harmony with all 26 communities of BTR,” CEM Boro stated.
The BTC will partner with IIT Delhi to strengthen healthcare services and introduce special schemes to support persons with disabilities. As part of its environmental initiatives, 420 organic centers will be set up at the Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) level under the 'Bodoland Green Mission'.
To promote cultural exchange, a multilingual word book featuring languages from all 26 communities will be published by the BTC government. Furthermore, a council-level workshop on ‘Sustainable Peace’ will be organized to foster unity and development.
Tourism and adventure sports are also in focus, with plans to develop international-standard river rafting facilities on three rivers and construct 10 homestays to boost local tourism.
Starting in June, BTC will roll out the third phase of its 100-day action plan, addressing a wide range of developmental goals. The Council also aims to resolve sensitive land-related issues in collaboration with the Assam government.
In the realm of sports, preparations are underway to organize the 3rd edition of the Duronto Cup Football Tournament. Additionally, football infrastructure will be developed at the VCDC level, and control rooms will be set up for flood management across 21 rivers.
BTC Executive Members along with departmental officials, attended the Executive Council meeting.
