A resident of in Bijni, Mahendra Chandra Dutta has raised serious concerns regarding a hefty electricity bill amounting to Rs 98,391 for a one-month period. The bill, which covers the duration from September 30 to October 31, has left the former librarian of Bijni Bapuji Library shocked and dissatisfied with the electricity department’s billing practices.
Dutta claims the charge is far beyond his regular electricity consumption and raised doubts about potential errors in the meter reading or billing process. "I have never experienced such a high bill in the past. This amount is extremely disproportionate to my actual electricity usage," said Dutta.
Dutta, who has lived in Bijni for several years, has already approached the local electricity department to lodge a formal complaint. However, despite repeated follow-ups, no satisfactory resolution has been provided so far. "The department has been unresponsive to my concerns, and I am left with no choice but to speak up," Dutta added.
