The 61st annual session of the Upper Assam Sumi Baptist Christian Union (UASBCU) began on Friday at Tsaliki village in Margherita Co-District. Centered on the theme "Reverting Back to God," the conference has drawn participants from Upper Assam, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh.
UASBCU President Jogdang Jugli stated that the annual conference rotates among Sumi villages in Upper Assam. This year's event will conclude on January 12.
According to Tsaliki village gaon pradhan, Hekiya Sema, the conference features notable speakers, including Kakheli Inato Jimo and Dr Hutton Sumi from Nagaland. The gathering has attracted Baptist Christian devotees from six villages across the region.
The concluding ceremony will see Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte and Margherita Co-District Commissioner Parikshit Thoudam attending as chief guests, marking a significant moment for the event.
