A youth slipped into the Brahmaputra River while enjoying picnic at Rudrapada, Assam on December 30.
The young man, who hailed from S. Khaklari village in Kaliabor, Nagaon district, was part of a group enjoying the day out when the mishap occurred.
Fortunately, Suheil Ahmed and Abhijit Sharma, volunteers of the Sonitpur Civil Defence team, were on duty at the site alongside Assam Police. Displaying remarkable courage and quick action, the duo immediately jumped into the river and successfully pulled the youth to safety.
The rescued individual was later handed over to his guardians through the Tezpur River Police. Sonitpur Police have lauded the bravery of the Civil Defence volunteers, commending their timely response and heroic efforts in saving a life.
