Assam: Clash over Friday prayers erupts at Piradhara mosque in Bongaigaon, 15 Injured

A violent clash broke out at the Piradhara Mosque in Bongaigaon district during Friday prayers amid the holy month of Ramadan, leaving at least 15 people injured.

According to reports, the incident occurred when two factions of worshippers got into an altercation over prayer-related disagreements. The conflict escalated into violence, with individuals attacking each other using sharp weapons, sticks, and axes.

Local authorities confirmed that 15 injured individuals have been admitted to Abhayapuri hospital for treatment. Their condition remains under observation.

Eyewitnesses claim that the attack was allegedly orchestrated by Karim Bhuyan, teacher Siddique Hafez, and contractor Aminul, who, along with some journalists, targeted a specific group of namazis inside the mosque.

Police personnel were immediately deployed to the scene to control the situation and prevent further escalation. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, and security measures have been tightened around the area to avoid further incidents.
