A tragic incident was reported from Ashrabari village under the jurisdiction of Basugaon Police Station in Chirang district, where a Class 8 student died of electrocution while cutting bamboo near his house.
The deceased student has been identified as Goumchar Narzary (14), son of Raman Narzary, a resident of Ashrabari village. He was a student of Class 8 at Adarsha Vidyalaya, Samthaibari in Chirang district.
According to reports, Goumchar had returned home after completing his examination at school and was cutting bamboo when a bamboo pole accidentally came in contact with a high-voltage power line, leading to his instant death by electrocution.

Family members immediately rushed him to JBS Civil Hospital in Kajalgaon, but the doctors on duty declared him brought dead.
The sudden and untimely demise of the young student has cast a pall of gloom over the entire locality, with many mourning the heartbreaking loss.
