A disturbing case of alleged ragging has rocked Christ Jyoti School in Nagaon, where a Class 9 student narrowly survived a brutal assault allegedly carried out by a group of senior students.
The victim, identified as Seuj Pratim Gayan, was reportedly targeted by a group of Class 10 students who launched a violent attack using iron rods and sharp instruments such as compasses. Shockingly, allegations suggest that the attackers even attempted to strangle him with a bicycle tire, indicating a possible attempt to kill him.
In a further escalation, teachers who tried to intervene were also allegedly manhandled by the accused students.
The victim’s parents have lodged a formal complaint with Nagaon Police, prompting immediate action. Several students involved in the assault have been identified and subsequently expelled from the institution.
Police authorities are now closely coordinating with the school management and the victim’s family as investigations continue.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage, raising serious concerns over student discipline and school safety. Parents, educationists, and local residents have demanded strict action to prevent such shocking acts of ragging in educational institutions.
