Assam: College student crushed to death in bike-dumper collision in Sribhumi

A tragic road accident at Kandigram in the Makhui Bhanga area of Sribhumi claimed the life of a college student on Tuesday, September 16.

According to police, the mishap occurred when a motorcycle collided with a dumper, causing the pillion rider, identified as Tupsi Bhattacharya, to fall under the heavy vehicle’s wheel. She died instantly at the scene.

The rider of the bike, Joydeep Malakar, sustained critical injuries and was immediately shifted to Srigouri Hospital for treatment.

Badarpur police rushed to the spot, recovered the victim’s body, and later sent it to Sribhumi Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities have also seized the dumper involved in the accident and taken it to the police station for further investigation.

Police confirmed that the deceased, Tupsi Bhattacharya, was a student of Badarpur NC College, leaving the academic community and local residents in shock.
