Congress candidate Suruchi Roy filed her nomination for the Ramkrishnanagar Assembly constituency on March 20, in the presence of district party leaders.
District Congress president Tapas Purkayastha, vice president Subrata Dev and other party members accompanied Roy during the filing of nomination papers.
Speaking to reporters, Roy said her electoral fight is based on a “local versus Bangladeshi” narrative. She also targeted the BJP candidate, stating that a citizenship-related case against him is pending before the High Court and claimed that he has not been able to prove his Indian citizenship in court.
Expressing confidence, Roy asserted that her victory from the Ramkrishnanagar seat is certain.
However, the turnout of supporters during her nomination filing remained relatively low.
