Demanding a fair investigation and justice in the death of Assam’s beloved artist Zubeen Garg, the Congress party on Tuesday, October 7 organized a massive candlelight march in Goalpara.
The demonstration, led by Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain, witnessed the participation of over a thousand Congress workers, who walked through the streets of Goalpara city holding candles and chanting slogans such as “Ensure justice for Zubeen Garg’s death” and “Conduct a proper investigation into Zubeen Garg’s death.”
Addressing the media during the event, MP Rakibul Hussain alleged that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been attempting to divert the course of the judicial probe rather than ensuring a fair and transparent investigation into the mysterious death of the celebrated singer.
Hussain claimed that Zubeen Garg’s death was not the act of just two individuals but a well-planned conspiracy involving multiple people. He further accused certain individuals of trying to mislead the public through conflicting statements instead of cooperating with the judicial inquiry.
“The Congress party firmly opposes such attempts to distort the truth,” Hussain asserted. He demanded that every person, directly or indirectly linked to Zubeen Garg’s death, must face legal consequences and be held accountable under the law.
The Dhubri MP also observed that thousands of citizens have united across communities, standing together against divisive forces. “Zubeen Garg’s death has brought the people of Assam together in grief and solidarity,” Hussain said, terming it a moment of collective unity inspired by the legacy of the late artist.
