Amid heightened security and a charged political atmosphere, vote counting is in progress in Sivasagar district at three key centres — Sivasagar, Demow, and Nazira — where separate strong rooms have been set up to ensure smooth and secure operations.
The district witnessed a robust voter turnout of 72.56%, with 3,65,485 voters casting their ballots out of 5,30,683 registered electors. In the Sivasagar assembly constituency alone, 1,29,228 voters exercised their franchise from a total electorate of 1,76,617.
The elections in Sivasagar spanned 12 Zila Parishad seats, 82 Gaon Panchayats, 5 Anchalik Panchayats, and a total of 820 wards across the three assembly constituencies.
Vote counting in the Sivasagar assembly segment continues for 4 Zila Parishad seats, 1 Anchalik Panchayat, and 270 ward positions. A total of 287 polling stations had been set up in the constituency for the election.
In the Demow assembly constituency, polling was conducted across 291 stations for 4 Zila Parishad seats, 2 Anchalik Panchayats, and 280 ward members, with the counting process now in progress.
Meanwhile, in Nazira, elections were held for 4 Zila Parishad seats, 2 Anchalik Panchayats, and 270 ward positions, with polling completed at 280 booths. Counting is underway at designated tables.
In Sivasagar constituency alone, the counting exercise is being conducted at 49 tables, covering results for 4 Zila Parishad seats, 1 Anchalik Panchayat, and 270 ward members.
