Assam: Damaged PWD road leaves Kaliabor residents facing daily commuting difficulties, demand immediate repair

Residents of several villages in Assam’s Kaliabor area have been facing prolonged transportation difficulties due to the deteriorating condition of a Public Works Department (PWD) road connecting Bamuni with Bhatabari, Nijari, Hatigaon, Keliden and other adjoining areas to National Highway 715.

The road has developed large potholes and several damaged stretches, while muddy conditions at multiple points have further affected movement. The poor road surface has made daily commuting difficult for pedestrians and motorists and has also raised concerns over road safety.

Residents said the condition of the road has remained poor for a long period, with repair or reconstruction work yet to provide relief to commuters.

The affected residents have urged the authorities concerned to undertake repair or reconstruction work at the earliest and restore proper road connectivity to the villages and surrounding areas.
