Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh conducted a security review in Kokrajhar on Sunday ahead of the 57th annual conference of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU). The event is set to take place at Bodofa Playground in Dotma from March 13 to 16.
During his visit, DGP Singh inspected the venue and assessed security measures, particularly in light of the scheduled attendance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will be the chief guest at the open session on March 16. Shah is expected to address a massive gathering of over two lakh people. Additionally, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will participate in a special program, "Empowering Youth for a Vibrant Bodoland Region and a Viksit Bharat," where he will engage with students from the Bodoland region on March 14.
To ensure the seamless execution of the event, DGP Singh chaired a security coordination meeting with members of the organizing committee, ABSU leaders, the district administration, and police officials.
Preparations at Bodofa Playground are progressing at full pace, with large-scale arrangements being made to accommodate the anticipated crowd. Construction of the event pandal is also advancing swiftly.
Speaking to the media, ABSU President Dipen Boro affirmed that the organization is fully prepared for the smooth conduct of the conference. He highlighted that crucial topics, including education and the comprehensive implementation of the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) Peace Agreement, will be discussed during the delegate session.
