In a remarkable fusion of nature and art, veteran Dhubri-based artist Pradip Kumar Ghosh has unveiled a rare and intriguing collection of conjoined leaves, captivating both art enthusiasts and environmentalists alike.
Known for his innovative contributions to sustainable art, Ghosh’s latest collection adds a new dimension to his growing legacy.
Conjoined leaves — a rare natural phenomenon where two leaves are fused together — form the centrepiece of this new collection. Ghosh has carefully sourced these botanical curiosities over the years from different plant species, including Mango, Guava, Banyan, Kadam, Bay leaf, and Sacred fig. Each leaf pair is a testament to nature’s fascinating anomalies and Ghosh’s patient eye for detail.

A stalwart of Dhubri’s creative scene, Pradip Kumar Ghosh has built a name over the past decade through his unique artwork made from discarded materials — from sugarcane waste and old bicycle tubes to plastic bottles and defunct lighting equipment. His eco-conscious creations have consistently carried a message of sustainability, urging viewers to rethink the value of waste.
Speaking on the deeper significance of his new collection, Ghosh said, “In Hinduism, we pray to trees, mountains, rivers, stones, snakes, animals, etc., as forms of God. Trees are the natural source of energy. They take carbon dioxide emanating from us and give oxygen required for our survival.”
More than an artistic endeavor, the conjoined leaf collection is Ghosh’s homage to the sacredness of nature and a call to preserve its fragile beauty. Through his work, he continues to inspire a growing awareness about environmental responsibility, proving that even the smallest natural wonders can leave a lasting impact.
