Assam's Dhubri police arrested a man and his son during a raid in the Halakura area on the night of September 2, recovering a hand-made pistol from their residence.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Golakganj Police Station In-charge Debajit Kalita raided the house of Hamid Ali (64) alias Dhulla at Sonakhuli Part-I. During the operation, police recovered a hand-made pistol, leading to the immediate arrest of Hamid Ali.
His son, Majnu Ali (30) alias Sanche, was also taken into custody and brought to the police station for questioning.
The father-son duo is currently being interrogated by the Golakganj police as they continue to investigate for more details regarding the weapon.
Sources indicate that the two men are also suspected of being involved in the illegal drug trade, adding another dimension to the case. The police are continuing their efforts to uncover any further criminal activities related to the detainees.
The successful operation has been hailed as a major achievement in the ongoing efforts to curb crime in the region.
