A resident of Assam's Dhubri has accused an individual from a Char region of acquiring his late grandfather's land.
Abdur Rahman, a resident of Dhubri's Indira Gandhi Road, Ward No-13 made grave claims about his ancestral land, claiming that an individual named Abdul Barek acquired his late grandfather Darber Sheikh's land.
Rahman has voiced concerns over the "deliberate and fraudulent attempt" to seize his family’s ancestral property, which is recorded under old Dag No 428 and new Dag No 526, covering 8 bighas and 3 lechas with Khatian 86 in Darber Sheikh's name at Jhagrarpar area of Dhubri.
According to Rahman, Barek allegedly manipulated the purchase of the land and subsequently transferred the title to his wife's name, involving multiple other individuals from the char area.
“We urge the Circle Officer Dhubri Revenue (Sadar) to take immediate action, arrest the alleged broker, and restore our ancestral land through proper legal channels,” Rahman stated, appealing for justice.
The matter has sparked outrage in the local community. While authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations, residents are calling for a thorough investigation to ensure that the truth behind the ongoing case is revealed and justice is served.
The case sheds light on the persistent land disputes in the region, where allegations of fraudulent transfers have increasingly become a concern, and Rahman hopes that legal proceedings will be swiftly initiated to reclaim his disputed ancestral land.
