A complaint has been filed at Dhubri Sadar police station by a victim's father over the alleged sexual assault and humiliation of his thirteen-year-old son at a private school in Dhubri town by a teacher.
Despite the complaint, the accused teacher, identified as Jahangir Alom, son of late Abdul Salam Sarkar, resident of village Jhagrarpar near Itbhata area, has not yet been taken into custody by Dhubri police.
This has caused public indignation and raised concerns among the town's citizens about the handling of the case by local authorities.
The victim's father stated that his son, a class 7 student at J.M. English School on GTB Road, came home upset on May 14 and revealed that a teacher had forced him into the toilet and sexually harassed him, threatening to kill him if he told anyone.
The father lodged a complaint on May 15 at Dhubri Sadar police station, leading to the registration of Dhubri Sadar PS Case No. 163/24, U/S-341/506 IPC, R/W-10/12/21 of Pocso Act. Since then, the student has stopped attending school due to a mental breakdown.
The parents have demanded action against the teacher. The principal of J.M. English School stated to the media that she was not present at the school on the day of the incident and only learned about it when the student's guardians reported it.
She added that Alom had been dismissed from the school after a meeting with the guardians, during which Alom pleaded for forgiveness.
J.M. English School has previously been in the limelight for various controversies, including operating without proper documentation and required permissions, and allegations of being run by incompetent authorities.
