Assam: Dibrugarh artiste's 'Chandni Raat' takes social media by storm

Dibrugarh-based singer Kaushik Kashyap has made a notable impact in the music world with his latest Hindi release, 'Chandni Raat'. The romantic melody, which was launched on the YouTube channel 'WECFY' music, has quickly gained traction, amassing impressive views within its first week.

 

Shot in the heritage locations of Dibrugarh, the video tells the story of an introvert's journey of transformation through love. What sets this release apart is its creation during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Kashyap was forced to return to his hometown from Mumbai.

 

Like many others, Kashyap faced setbacks during the lockdown. With few industry contacts responding and financial resources dwindling, he found himself at a crossroads. However, in the quiet isolation of his hometown, he turned adversity into opportunity, transforming his small room into a makeshift studio. The result was 'Chandni Raat', a song born from these challenging circumstances and his determination to continue creating.

 

"This is my second Hindi song, and I am thrilled with the positive response," Kashyap shared. "It's tough to make a Hindi song without strong financial support, but I pushed ahead with limited resources, even shooting the video in Dibrugarh in just two days."

 

Kashyap's love for music began in his childhood, growing up in a musical family. Despite being an engineer, his passion led him to Mumbai, where he worked with Ali Quli Mirza and performed across India. The pandemic, however, changed his path, bringing him back to Dibrugarh and prompting him to focus on Hindi music. "I was working in Mumbai with Ali Quli Mirza and had done lots of shows all over India, but my life changed drastically after the lockdown," he said.

 

Kashyap's musical versatility shines through in his portfolio, which includes composing the title track for the short film 'Hunz N Gunz', releasing the acclaimed Sufi-fusion track 'Jogi De Naal', and creating the Assamese song 'Sadiya', which earned recognition from Assam Tourism.

 

Drawing from both Indian classical and Western influences, Kashyap’s unique fusion style has resonated with audiences nationwide. His journey, from performing in Pune and Assam to collaborating with industry veterans, highlights his resilience and dedication to his craft.

 

As Kashyap continues to evolve as an artiste, his fans look forward to the next chapter of his musical journey.
