Assam: Discovery of alleged spy camera in Amrit Pal Singh's jail cell, matter of concern, says lawyer

Amrit Pal Singh's legal representative, ex-MP Rajdeo Singh Khalsar, responded to the discovery of questionable items in Amrit Pal Singh's cell at Dibrugarh Central Jail where he is incarcerated under the National Security Act (NSA). 

Rajdeo Singh Khalsar visited Amrit Pal Singh in jail today and addressed the media afterwards. 

He revealed that on February 16, Amrit Pal Singh had found a hidden spy camera and other items in his cell and had reported this in a letter to the Amritsar Deputy Commissioner on the same day. 

The jail authorities' announcement on February 17 about the recovery of these items was described as mysterious by Rajdeo Singh Khalsar. 

He further informed that several of Amrit Pal Singh's associates in jail have fallen ill since the incident. 

The lawyer also noted a deterioration in the health of many colleagues. During his three-hour visit to the jail today, Amrit Pal Singh gave him a copy of the letter submitted to the jail authorities on February 17.

There has been no official statement from the jail authorities or the local police on this matter yet.

In an alarming revelation, unauthorized activities were detected in the National Security Act (NSA) cell at Dibrugarh Jail, Assam. 

Upon receiving information about these activities, additional CCTV cameras were installed in the public area of the NSA Block. 

The inputs received confirmed the unauthorized activities. In light of these findings, jail staff conducted a search operation on the premises of the NSA Cell early this morning. 

The search led to the recovery of numerous unauthorized items including a smartphone with SIM, a keypad phone, a TV remote with keyboard, a spy-cam pen, pen drives, Bluetooth headphones & speakers, and a smartwatch. 

All the recovered items were lawfully seized by the jail staff. 

The source of these unauthorized items and the method of their induction into the cell is currently under investigation.
