A joint team from Margherita Police Station and Ledo Police Outpost carried out a successful late-night raid in Rodgaon, Ledo, on Tuesday, June 17, resulting in the seizure of 5.1 grams of suspected prohibited narcotics.
The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge of Margherita Police Station, Protap Gogoi, and In-Charge of Ledo Police Outpost, Jyotish Phukan. The contraband was recovered during a swift and targeted raid based on specific intelligence inputs.
The primary suspect, identified as Tinku, believed to be a local drug supplier, managed to flee the scene and is currently absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to track and arrest him.
Local residents have welcomed the action but also expressed concern over the rising threat of drug abuse in the 83rd Margherita constituency.
Speaking to the media, a resident from Ledo stated, “The future of our youth is at risk. We hope the Margherita Police and Co-District Administration will continue and intensify their efforts to eradicate this menace.”
