Assam: Father and son missing after boat capsizes in Gauripur

A tragic incident unfolded last night when a boat carrying a father and son capsized in the Gadadhar river at Gauripur. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. as Shabinur Rahman and his father were traveling by a traditional tulunga boat.

Panic ensued as the boat suddenly sank in the middle of the river. Local residents quickly mobilized to search for the missing duo, but their efforts were in vain. Gauripur police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted.

The SDRF team conducted an exhaustive night-long search operation. By morning, they recovered the body of a man identified as Ullabas. The body has been sent to Dhubri Medical College for postmortem. The search for Shabinur Rahman, the young man who was with his father, continues as SDRF intensifies their efforts.
