An FIR has been lodged at Rangia Police Station against members of the Bir Lachit Sena on charges of hooliganism. One person, Moon Kalita, has been arrested, while several others remain absconding.
According to the complaint, members of the group allegedly stormed into a local business establishment managed by a member of the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal.
The victim was reportedly subjected to physical and mental harassment, including being forced to repeatedly stand up and sit down while holding his ears — a scene that was later made viral on social media.
The Rashtriya Bajrang Dal has strongly condemned the incident. Its president, Dinesh Kalita, demanded immediate and strict action against the accused members. He warned that failure to act would result in a massive agitation.
The group has previously faced accusations in incidents involving honey-trapping, disrespect towards artists, and misbehavior with journalists. This latest incident has reignited public outrage, with calls for swift police action.
Police operations are ongoing to trace and apprehend the absconding members.
