A devastating fire gutted a house in Hathinapur village in the southern part of Bajali late Sunday night, April 12, leaving the family with most of their belongings destroyed.
The incident occurred at around 1 am, when a fire reportedly broke out from incense sticks lit inside a cowshed and quickly spread to the house of Nripen Bharali.
Bharali and his family members managed to escape in time, narrowly saving their lives. However, despite swift efforts by local residents to douse the flames and carry out rescue operations, the house and all belongings were completely destroyed.
According to locals, the blaze reduced all household items to ashes, including cash amounting to nearly Rs 1 lakh, important documents, and livestock such as goats.
Nripen Bharali, who sustains his family by running a small roadside puchka stall, has suffered significant losses in the incident.
In a show of solidarity, villagers have stepped forward to support the affected family, arranging temporary food supplies. They have also assured further assistance to help the family recover from the tragedy.
