Assam: Five cattle thieves arrested in Sootea, vehicle seized

Sootea Police apprehended five alleged cattle thieves late last night, thwarting an illicit operation in the Chamar Dalani area. Acting on specific intelligence, the police, with the assistance of local cow protection groups, intercepted a Swift Dzire vehicle carrying a cow.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Safikul Islam, Idil Hussain, Achikur Rahman, Saddam Hussain, and Basir Ali. According to authorities, three of the accused are residents of Nagaon district, while the remaining two hail from Biswanath Chariali.

The Swift Dzire car, registered as AS-31A-4373, was seized during the operation. Following their arrest, all five individuals were remanded to judicial custody. Sootea Police have initiated further investigations into the matter.
