Farmers in Jogighopa have been devastated by the month-long ban in July, as floodwaters from the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries have swamped crops and flooded more than a dozen revenue villages.
While the flood situation has slightly improved in the affected areas, farmers are grappling with profound losses. In Chalantapara, Jogighopa, acres of vegetable crops, including sponge gourd, ridge gourd, tamarind, white gourd, and brinjal, have been washed away by the deluge. These crops, cultivated with great effort, have succumbed to the floodwaters, shattering farmers' hopes.
The agriculture department of the district has yet to respond to the farmers' plight, despite the extensive damage incurred. Officials have not visited the affected areas nor addressed the distress of the farmers facing financial losses due to the destroyed crops.
Farmers, now burdened with debts and uncertain futures, await support and relief measures from the authorities as they navigate through this crisis.
