A young female forest worker of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division in Kaziranga National Park was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her quarters at the DFO office’s residential area in Bokakhat on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Dashami Duwara, a resident of Athkheliya in Golaghat district. Preliminary reports from the forest department suggest that the death is suspected to be a case of suicide, though no official cause has yet been confirmed.
Bokakhat police have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities said the body was discovered inside her allotted quarters and was recovered for further examination.
Kaziranga DFO Arun Vignesh confirmed the death and said that an inquiry is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
Duwara was serving in the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, which covers key areas of Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its wildlife conservation efforts.
