Preparations are nearing completion in Kokrajhar for the swearing-in of the fifth Executive Council of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), scheduled for October 5 at the BTC Secretariat grounds in Bodofa Nagar.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) Hagrama Mohilary will take the oath of office alongside newly elected members, formally beginning a new council term for the autonomous region.
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are expected to attend the ceremony, underlining the importance of the event. To ensure wider reach, the proceedings will be live-streamed across BTC districts.
The programme will be conducted under the supervision of Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota. BTC Legislative Assembly Pro-tem Speaker Trideep Daimari will administer the oath to Mohilary.
The day will start with the hoisting of the national flag by the CEM. This will be followed by floral tributes at key memorials, including the Bodofa UN Brahma memorial at Dothamar Thulungapur, the Bodoland Martyrs’ Memorial at Devrgaon, and the statue of Bodofa UN Brahma near the BTC Assembly building.
The oath-taking marks a significant step for the council as it begins its new tenure, with both state leaders and the public watching closely.
