The Assam government has launched the Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2.0, under the slogan “A Tree in Mother's Name.” This campaign aims to plant 30 million trees from August 1 to August 15. On Friday (August 2), as part of this initiative, BJP Minister Pijush Hazarika planted saplings in Assam's Jagiroad.
The planting event took place at the PWD Guest House premises in Jagiroad. During the event, Hazarika encouraged everyone to plant a tree in their mother’s name. He highlighted the significance of this movement in promoting environmental sustainability and honouring one’s mother.
The Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2.0 represents a significant step towards enhancing Assam’s green cover and involves widespread community participation, the minsiter said.
Hazarika also remarked that August 3 would be a historic day for Jagiroad and the entire state of Assam.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to perform the ground-breaking ceremony for Tata's proposed semiconductor project. This project, with an estimated cost of around Rs 30,000 crores, is expected to provide employment opportunities for approximately 30,000 unemployed youths.
