Assam: Investigating team raids contractor’s residence linked to engineer Jyoshita Das suicide case

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has conducted a raid at the residence of controversial contractor Rudra Pathak in connection with the suicide case of Assistant Engineer Jyoshita Das.

 

The operation is ongoing at his house located in Abhayapuri.

 

Following the suicide of Jyoshita Das, an engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Bongaigaon, the department's SDO, another Assistant Engineer, and an architect engineer were arrested.

 

Allegations were made that contractor Rudra Pathak's corrupt practices and the mental stress faced by the engineer had compelled Jyoshita Das to take her own life.

 

After widespread protests by various organizations, the SIT today launched a raid at the residence of Rudra Pathak, who is reportedly known to be close to the Chief Minister.

 

After nearly a 6-hour-long search operation, Bongaigaon district’s Additional Superintendent of Police N. Singso said that the investigation is still underway, and no new arrests have been made so far.
