Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang spearheaded a protest demonstration against the recent attack on Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy in Golaghat. The demonstration was jointly organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s East Karbi Anglong District Committee (BJP-EKADC).
Addressing a gathering of party workers and supporters, Ronghang vehemently condemned the June 30 incident, calling it an “unacceptable assault on democratic values.” The convoy, reportedly targeted by members of the Indian National Congress and Youth Congress, has triggered political outcry across the state.
Terming the incident a sign of the opposition’s growing frustration, Ronghang said, “Such acts of aggression reflect a dangerous pattern of political intolerance and must be denounced by all who believe in democracy.”
The protest saw significant participation from local BJP cadres, who raised slogans demanding accountability and stricter action against the perpetrators. The BJP has accused the Congress of orchestrating the attack out of political desperation in the face of growing public support for the BJP-led state government.
