Kachugaon etched their name in history by clinching the title of the 1st Bodoland CEM Cup 2025, defeating Kajalgaon 2–0 in a spirited finale held at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar. The championship match witnessed an electrifying atmosphere and a remarkable show of sportsmanship from both sides.
The final was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who attended the grand event as the chief guest, alongside Sports Minister Nandita Garlosa, Bodoland Welfare Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, and BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro.
The champions, Kachugaon, received a cash prize of ₹1.5 lakh and a glittering championship trophy, which was presented by Sports Minister Nandita Garlosa. The runners-up Kajalgaon were awarded ₹1 lakh and a trophy, handed over by Kokrajhar MP Joyanta Basumatary.
In the individual accolades, Urkhao Muchahary of Kachugaon was named the Best Player of the Tournament, while Golap Brahma, also from Kachugaon, was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper. Both players were awarded ₹10,000 each, and notably, they have been selected to represent Bodoland FC in the upcoming Durand Cup, marking a significant milestone in their careers.
What makes the Bodoland CEM Cup 2025 truly historic is its unprecedented scale—with 3,760 teams and over 67,000 players from 420 Village Council Development Committees (VCDCs) across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Lauded as one of the largest grassroots football tournaments in the region, the initiative aimed at promoting peace, unity, and brotherhood among communities through the universal language of football.
