Amguri Police of Kaliabor arrested a five-member gang of armed dacoits early this morning at Purba Lailuri. The gang was intercepted while returning from a robbery committed in the Jinjiya police station area of Biswanath district.
Police recovered a cache of weapons and valuables from the gang, including a 9mm pistol, four live rounds of ammunition, a magazine, Rs 33,000 in cash, four mobile phones, and a khukuri. A Tata Yodha vehicle (registration number AS 02 DC 3799) used in the robbery was also seized.
The arrested individuals have been identified Zahirul Islam from the Rupohi police station area, Shamim Ali from Sialkhat, Nagaon, Faruq from South Khatowal, Sadek Ali from Purba Lailuri, Amir Haque from Jinjiya, Biswanath
Significantly, Sadek Ali already has a case registered against him at the Kaliabor police station. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the gang’s involvement in other criminal activities.
