Assam's Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma inaugurated the Khel Maharan 2.0 across the state on December 6 under the initiative of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Assam, aiming to provide a platform for talented sportspersons.
The MLA launched the programme in the presence of Margherita Co-District Executive Magistrates Pritam Gogoi and Alokesh Bordoloi, Margherita Block Development Officer Rohit Kumar Yadav, Margherita Co-District Police Commissioner Dinesh Pratap Singh Rathod, Margherita Anchalik Panchayat President Sukhdev Sharma, Margherita District Sports Association General Secretary Satya Borkatoky, Tinsukia District Journalists Association General Secretary Rana Jyoti Neog, Assam Government Sports Pensioner Atul Bora, and officials from the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of the Assam Government, including Mustafijul Haque, Bijitesh Sharma Baruah, and Satya Prati Borgohain.
The programme began with performances by students of Margherita Balya Bhavan School, who showcased Bihu dance, Radhakrishna dance, and a march past, captivating the audience.
During Khel Maharan 2.0, events such as Athletics, Kabaddi, Long Jump, Cycling, Volleyball, and Football will be held for participants from 13 Gaon Panchayats and 1 Margherita Municipal Board in the 83rd Margherita Constituency.
In his inaugural speech, Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma emphasised that under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Khel Maharan has been launched in Assam, providing a platform for the state's hidden sporting talent.
